Yesterday, i obtained a Japanese Potato Salad recipe from my manager:) So i thought of giving it a try! Let me share my experience in preparing this dish.
Its quite easy to prepare, i guess the worst part was the potato skin peeling process +_+'''
and i didn't know that i should have boil the potato with their skin on... geez, blur me...
Anyway, i manage to get the potato skin off and place them to boil for about 17 to 20 minutes.
Besides of the main ingredient - Potato, carrots and green pea were required as well :) those were a piece of cake comparing to the potatos (as in the preparing process)... they too need to be boiled through around 5 to 7 minutes.
After all the boiling, I drained out all the water for the potato, and start smashing it! TIRING! then I started to put in the first round of mayo to the smashed potato. Ahhem... Not any Mayo can do the job, as i was told the most recommended Mayo to be used for this dish is the Japanese Mayo - Kewpie. Nonetheless, you could still go for other Japanese brands as you prefer :)
Then place the boiled and rinsed with cold water carrots and pea into the potato, and start adding the second round of Mayo to it. This round, I gave the salad a pinch of salt and pepper to spice the flavor more! Then continue to mix the potato, carrots and peas until they look like they are nicely blend into one.
TADA! & There you have it! Japanese Potato Salad :)
Yum Yum! :)
*Practice makes perfect, I'll have my second attempt this coming weekend, good luck to the guinea pig at home to judge my improvements... hehehehehe :D*
